Once again we have to cancel events because many of our members will be out of town or have family plans for the Labor Day weekend. The Installation-Festival scheduled for 3 September and the regular AZLOCO weekly meeting scheduled for 4 September 2016 have been cancelled. We are sorry for any inconvenience that this may cause. The Install-fests will once again resume their normal 1st and 3rd Saturday schedule on 17 September and the weekly Sunday meetings will begin again on 11 September.
Woes installing Lubuntu on a Inspiron 3452
This note describes how to overcome an installation problem we had in today’s installfest. The system would not boot from the hard disk, and when trying to boot from a USB stick, we received a message saying: alloc magic is broken at 0xxxxxx.
What finally worked was this: In the BIOS setup, select UEFI boot and enable secure boot!.
Then boot into the USB grub menu.
Installation-Festival Cancellation
Because the date for the first install-fest in July falls during the 4th of July weekend and many of our members will be out of town or doing other activities, we are cancelling the 2 July install-fest. Normal activities will continue on the third Saturday, 16 July.
